Dermal fillers are one of the most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedures. Its dynamic nature and gorgeous results have contributed to its popularity. The fillers can be used to plump the lips, fill up the fine lines and wrinkles, also for a non-invasive nose job. The results from a Dermal filler Toronto can be seen almost immediately. It is very little to no downtime. If you don’t like the results produced by the procedure you can always get the filler dissolved. As most dermal fillers use Hyaluronic Acid, it is easily accepted by the body. Hence, the approval rating of this type of cosmetic procedure is through the roof. When you are planning to undergo the process, there are a few things that you should keep in mind. Taking these appropriate steps can make the procedure and recovery easier.

Avoiding Blood Thinners

It is recommended that you avoid taking any blood thinners before the procedure as it can cause bruising and bleeding. Make it a point to avoid taking aspirin or other similar products. Along with that, also avoid Vitamin E, fish oils, green tea, ginkgo Biloba and ginseng. At least 24 hours before the surgery it is suggested that you avoid consuming alcohol. It is essential that you eat well and keep yourself hydrated before the dermal filler appointment. 2 weeks before the appointment it is suggested that you avoid smoking. If you are unable to do that it can increase the chance of bruising and healing would take longer.

Tips for the filler appointment

On the day of the appointment, make sure you arrive about 10-15 minutes before time. Your face should be clean and without any makeup. The time before the appointment can be used for reading and signing the consent forms to undergo the injections. Before the dermal filler is injected into the site, the injector will apply a topical numbing cream which will help to make the procedure even more comfortable. The dermal fillers contain a numbing agent.

Post-treatment tips

During your consultation with the surgeon, they will share a list of pre and post-treatment instructions. Being aware of the post-treatment tips will help you to prepare yourself. After you are back home, you will need to apply the ice o the injected areas. This will help to reduce the swelling. For the next day, avoid alcohol or any type of strenuous activity. Don’t touch or massage the injected site. Until the redness and swelling start to settle, avoid direct exposure to sunlight or hot temperatures. After the first 24 hours are over, you can also apply a warm compress. Even after the procedure is over, it is recommended to avoid any blood thinning activities till there is no bruising.
