Circumcision is an age old procedure that is being conducted for many years in several countries but more because of rituals or religious reasons. Circumcisions are still being performed in the United States of America. |
However, in the 1990s, the number of circumcisions had fallen down to a great extent and these days, it is performed for medical and health reasons in new born babies.
However, the case is different when it comes to adult circumcision where the surgery is performed by choice. Countries like the United Kingdom report a case of circumcision on an everyday basis. The effects of circumcision is a much debated topic and some people are against and it some support it.
Circumcision is considered to be a simple process and it is performed by injecting some painkillers and numbing the part before cutting the fore skin. Very rarely it is performed under anesthesia. After a circumcision surgery, the post op care involves constant attention and application of some medications to the circumcised area. Also the patient should refrain from any sexual activity until the penis has healed completely. Some doctors advice not to put much water on the circumcised area to avoid any kind of fungal infection. The main aim of the pro op care is to prevent the circumcised penis from getting any kind of infection. Also, immediately after the surgery the person could feel weak while recovering from the effects of painkiller or sometimes general anesthesia. At that time the patient might still be under observation to see if he is experiencing any pain.
