Measles Symptoms Treatment
Measles is a highly contagious illness cause by a virus and it manifests itself in the form of total body rash accompanied by flu-like symptoms which include fever, cough and runny nose. Since measles is cause by a virus, usually the symptoms disappear without any medical treatment. However, you have to ensure that the ill person receives a lot of rest, given plenty of fluids to drink and is kept away from others to avoid spread of infection.
The onset of measles is characterized by runny nose, drowsiness, loss of appetite and fever. Fever may gradually increase to 101-103° Fahrenheit. The person will also get Koplik’s spots in the inner check in the mouth on second or the third day. This is followed by measles’ rash on face which gradually starts extending to the rest of body. The person will also suffer from cough. The rash lasts for around 4 to 5 days and as it starts declining the temperature also starts reducing. Usually five days after the appearance of the rash, the temperature comes down to normal.
